About
From the Ground Up: Stories of Climate Action is a celebration of 20 years of the Community Action Group (CAG) Oxfordshire project, a network of almost 100 grassroots community action groups working on issues as diverse as waste, transport, food, energy, biodiversity and social justice.
We’ve been working with a top team of local artists, filmmakers and designers to curate a collection of 20 stories from our network. These have been developed as exhibits showing that a sustainable and fairer future is within our grasp.
Fancy some avant garde musical compositions inspired by the sounds of melting glaciers? A library where you can borrow not books, but candy-floss makers, disco balls and bunting? Or art made with inks from oak galls, pottery made from recycled egg cartons and photographs that don’t harm the Earth? We’ve got it all.
Our exhibition opens at the Old Fire Station in Oxford on September 1st in the run up to the UN Climate Change Conference COP26 in Glasgow in November. We hope it will be an opportunity for residents, councillors and local authorities to engage with grassroots projects and launch a new phase of ambitious climate and community action across the county.
